Automotive Controller (Dual-Store)

Automotive Controller needed to take over a consolidated accounting office in the Nashua, NH area as the current Controller is retiring after several years with the company. Clean books and great long-term opportunity. This position will report directly to the Dealer Principal and will not be micromanaged.
The dealership Controller hired will be responsible for closing out and submitting the month end financial statement to the factories for 2 different franchises. Additionally, the Controller will be responsible for reconciliations, reporting, expense analysis, assisting in audits, and analyzing and interpreting financial data among other tasks to ensure the financial well-being of their dealerships. The Controller will also be responsible to manage the accounting team on a day-to-day basis and is expected to be a resource to their team. It is important that the Controller hired is hands-on and well-versed in all areas of dealership accounting as to properly train, manage, and fill-in for their accounting staff as needed. Moreover, it is important that this person is a positive leader, a clear communicator, and is knows how to hold their team and other management staff accountable.
Responsibilities:
- Help to oversee, maintain, and improve the financial well-being of the dealership(s)
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements; monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and reporting including, but not limited to, intercompany transactions and balances and reporting to manufacturers.
- Maintain positive relationships and open communication with the Dealer Principal
- Understand and maximize benefits from manufacturer incentive programs and payment structures, work with GMs to achieve results, and ensure the team is current on program rules.
- Manage accounting team on a daily basis; working to maintain a positive and performance oriented work environment and collaborative team environment
- Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems/processes for financial controls and performance.
- Monitor and analyze monthly operating expenditures against budget to identify expense and gross profit opportunities.
- Ensure all store transactions are processed timely, accurately, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Complete monthly commission workbooks, have a strong understanding of individual pay plans and commissions.
- Review and analyze parts monthly/annual reconciliation.
- Dealership vehicle inventory – review and reconcile physical to GL.
- Maintain accounting schedules.
- Expense Analysis
- Assist in the annual budgeting process.
- Assist in audits (floor plan, sales tax, manufacturer) and year-end review.
- Internal controls – implement and ensure the store follows the internal control process.
- Work closely with other department managers to achieve store goals
Schedule:
- 5 day work week
Compensation:
- Compensation package will be in $125,000 - $150,000 range depending on experience level and track record.
