Position Responsibilities:
The Automation Engineering Manager is responsible for the design, development and operational success of the automation portfolio within Contract Logistics for the North America region. Working cross functionally with operations and engineering. Works with key system integrators on the deployment of automation solutions, including Auto store, ASRS solutions, enhanced picking solutions, AGVs, VGVs, ARMs, Conveyers, and robotics. Assists business development team and customers to create and present automated solutions. Challenge is to integrate and maintain world class automated solutions while managing the integrator relationships and meeting the customer’s needs, both efficiently and on budget.

Background Required:
  • Senior engineering leadership role managing warehouse automation solutions or engineering (8 years)
  • Solutions development (i.e. Project assessment, network & process engineering, modeling, design & pricing)
  • Performed strategic pre assessment qualifications
  • Designed, developed, & optimized automated solutions (i.e. logistics, manufacturing or airport baggage handling)
  • Conducted project management in deploying automation
  • Worked with Autostore or similar (Compact storage and auto picking system)
  • Utilized new equipment including arranging & managing production trials & testing for successful launch
  • Supervised engineers, operations, information systems, contractors, maintenance & cross functional teams
  • Supported reengineering, renewal or scope change requirements of existing solutions
  • Assisted the operating group with redesigns and process improvement initiatives
  • Coordinated the various stakeholders in the updating and refinement of standard cost factors
  • Evaluated, selected and utilized state of the art design tools with computer-assisted design (CAD)
  • Worked with warehouse management systems (i.e. JDA, Manhattan, SAP), WCS & ERP solutions
  • Advanced level Minitab user (version 14 or above)
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Education: BA or BS (i.e. Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management)
  • Travel: Up to 75%
  • Residence: Home office, USA (No relocation assistance)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or relevant lean
  • Advanced Degree --Master’s (industrial engineering, operations research, computer science, or related field
  • Bilingual: English & Spanish
