Job Title: Controls Engineer
Location: Indianapolis, IN (On-site with up to 20% travel)
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our team in Indianapolis. This role involves designing, developing, and programming industrial automation systems, with a strong focus on Allen Bradley PLCs and FANUC robot integration. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, collaborative, and capable of supporting automation projects both locally and at customer sites (travel up to 20%).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLCs (RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000) from scratch

  • Integrate and support FANUC robotic systems in automated environments

  • Design and implement control system architecture including HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and safety components

  • Perform system testing, startup, and commissioning at customer sites

  • Support ongoing improvement of machine controls and automation processes

  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to deliver complete automation solutions

  • Create and maintain documentation including schematics, IO lists, and user manuals

  • Ensure adherence to safety and industry standards across all control systems

  • Provide technical support to internal teams and customers during and after installation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 3+ years of experience in controls engineering in an industrial or manufacturing setting

  • Proficiency with Allen Bradley PLC programming from scratch

  • Experience working with and programming FANUC robots

  • Familiarity with HMI design and integration (e.g., FactoryTalk View)

  • Willingness to travel up to 20%; must be able to work on-site when not traveling

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
