The company is looking for an experienced Automation Design Engineer to join their Building Solutions team.


Overview:

The Automation Design Engineer will be responsible for the system engineering, drafting, and validation of control system wiring for automation aspects related to mechanical HVAC system installations. The role involves coordination with the project team to ensure that designs are accurate, timely, and aligned with the overall project schedule. The ideal candidate will have expertise in AutoCAD, HVAC system controls, and control system wiring schematics.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Produce control system wiring schematics and documentation for projects.
  • Generate project bills of material and develop actuator/valve schedules.
  • Document, monitor, and maintain control system design standards and processes to improve project profitability.
  • Interface regularly with project teams, customers, and vendors to ensure smooth communication and project execution.
  • Support field commissioning of control systems and document design intent validity.
  • Make adjustments to designs, calculations, and specifications as required during the project.
  • Utilize engineering practices, mathematics, and computer programming knowledge to complete drawings with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain familiarity with project scope and budget.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures for the control systems in use.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years of experience in HVAC automation systems design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent background in HVAC automation system design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and HVAC automation system design tools.
  • Knowledge of various control sensor and meter technologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with team members, customers, and vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Professionalism, tact, and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance.


Working Conditions:
  • The role requires standing, walking, sitting, handling tools or controls, and climbing stairs or ladders to access equipment.
  • The employee must be able to lift or move office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to drive to business appointments and job sites within Ohio.
  • Ability to open mechanical equipment and visually inspect operations, subject to training and safety requirements.
