Associate Pastor
Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Uptown Church in Charlotte, NC as they search for their next Associate Pastor. Uptown Church desires a seasoned leader with an intellectual gift of teaching and a shepherd's heart. This role will oversee the various spiritual formation ministries of the church and support the Senior Pastor. The ideal candidate will embrace and support the church's vision, and empower the various ministry leaders on staff.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Vibrant spiritual life, evidenced by a deep love for God and people and marked by constant renewal in the Gospel
- Is winsomely and implicitly Reformed (as opposed to tribal and explicitly Reformed). As a strong interest in reaching people in a post-Christian society
- Possesses a strong desire to see others grow in Christ. “Discipleship” is in their DNA
- Has strong leadership, management, and accountability qualities (LMA)
- Has significant ministry experience
- Is well-organized, likes detail, and can make vision a reality (integrator)
- Is an effective communicator, has strong preaching and teaching gifts
- Is a team player and fits well on the Uptown staff team.
- Faithful commitment to our ordination vows; ordained (or ordainable) in the PCA (education includes a Masters in Divinity)
Responsibilities:
- Strategic planning with the leadership team, including integration with areas of vision.
- Preaching, teaching, and ministering the Word.
- Oversight of ministries and groups mentioned above.
- Pastoral care, shepherding, and meeting with members and attendees.
- Discipleship through individual engagement and across the community of Uptown.
- Mobilization & connection of volunteers, members, & staff, from broad to particular opportunities.
- General pastoral responsibilities of shepherding, counseling, preaching & teaching.
