We are seeking a Associate Controls Engineer for our client in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Our client is a global market leader in the integration of wheel and tire assembly and test systems. Headquartered in Michigan, they are a premiere supplier for our clients in the auto industry, specializing in system solutions for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers.

Job Purpose

  • Hardware: Develop hardware controls for automated equipment. (Electrical & Pneumatic design) using Autocad or EPLAN software.
  • Software: Develop, Test and debug Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) & Human Machine Interface (HMI) programs for automated equipment.

Responsibilities

Controls Engineer/Hardware & Software Designers perform a wide range of duties such as:

  • Review Customer specifications
  • Design / assist in the Hardware design for Automated equipment using Autocad or EPLAN software
  • Complete drawing markups from the build phase
  • Investigate and resolve issues associated with assembly automation, workstations, robotics, and automated equipment
  • Test new programs for reliability and safety with automation equipment
  • Able to troubleshoot issues with hardware and processes
  • Must oversee customer installations are successful, and provide guidance and support
  • Maintain quality and safety procedures
  • Must be well versed in machine controls and have good mechanical aptitude
  • Perform and assist with other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 1 years experience in related field
  • Autocad Experience
  • EPLAN experience a plus
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and edit electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
  • Experience in manufacturing, controls engineering, or related field required
  • Knowledgeable with robotics, machining, assembly lines and conveyor
  • Valid driver’s license and have or be able to acquire a valid passport
  • Motivated with strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent required

  • This job operates in an office and plant environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photo copiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, tools, and other machines.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and lift components up to 50 lbs.
