Colm Allen
This is a career opportunity for a Junior Construction Professional to grow their career.
Our client is looking to hire an Assistant Project Manager to join their modern, progressive, values-driven construction/engineering company that specializes mainly in the exterior skin of buildings.
From Curtain Wall to Composite Panels, to Custom Windows and openings to Specialty Engineered Products (fabricated in their own workshops). They are leaders in their industry in New England.
The Company:
Situated 5 miles north of Boston, it is a bright modern office space that would cheer you up to go into work there on a miserable Monday morning. The attitude of the office and in-field employees is cheerful, "can-do" and geared towards safety, quality and service.
They train and educate their staff and are vested in their success. (No bull, the owner actually cares about his people). We have recruited numerous people for this client and the universal report back is "a great place to work".
Their work is typically performed on the trophy buildings in Boston and usually directly for the owners.
The Position:
This APM will join the engineering side of the Company, working to connect Project Managers in the office with the Superintendents and Operators in the field.
Your assistance with the following would be of great benefit; CAD, field measurements, interpreting clients visions, procurement of product and generally being the right hand to the Project Management team.
- You will prepare project status reports, and work to ensure plans adhere to contract specifications
- Receive, review and distribute correspondence, which pertains to your projects.
- You will maintain contract documentation such as submittal schedules, RFI, meeting minutes, proposed change order logs and project correspondence
- Must be able to review contract documents and retain the information for use when reviewing shop drawings and submittals for contract compliance
Skill Set:
You need to be pretty nifty at Auto Cad, Revit or similar.
General construction knowledge but if you knew anything about glass, aluminum, windows, brickwork, building envelopes that would be desirable.
Have an understanding for, if not a downright love of math, science and all things provable.
Ideal candidate
- A minimum of 2 years in a construction related position is required
- You are probably presently undervalued, chomping at the bit for advancement
- You want to contribute more than you are being asked (or allowed) to in your current position
- You do not need to be micromanaged
The deal:
Salary will depend on experience, but our client is very generous.
On top of a great salary, there are bonuses, 401k, paid leave, vacations.
Want to grow your career, then give me a call to have a casual chat or "apply" with your resume.
