Peterson Consulting Group is partnering with a leading heavy civil general contractor and construction management firm in the Pacific Northwest to hire an Assistant Project Manager. Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and coordinating all phases of heavy civil construction projects
- Ensure safety protocols are being followed; reinforce safety culture through daily and weekly briefings and project-specific safety planning
- Assist in pre-construction planning including risk assessment, safety requirements, submittal planning, and scheduling inputs
- Help ensure quality control procedures and internal checks are consistently implemented and documented
- Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, quantity tracking, testing results, submittals, RFIs, correspondence, and certifications
- Coordinate with field supervision daily to monitor progress, identify issues, and maintain photo documentation
- Review and validate daily labor and equipment reporting to ensure proper job cost coding
- Assist with subcontractor and vendor coordination including scheduling, compliance documentation, and scope alignment
- Support daily job cost tracking and assist in preparing cost reports, forecasting, and projections
- Participate in client, subcontractor, and internal planning meetings as needed
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field, or equivalent field experience
- Experience with project management software such as HCSS HeavyJob, HeavyBid, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with electronic document control and file management systems
- Exposure to CPM-based scheduling platforms such as MS Project, SureTrak, or Primavera P6
- Experience supporting heavy civil projects (roadways, utilities, site development, public works, etc. — internship experience accepted)
