Position Title: Project Engineer

The Boss:
The role reports into a Project Management group led by a long-tenured leader who has grown his career internally. He began as a Project Manager, played a key role in implementing modern project management technology across the organization, and now oversees the Project Management team. He is known for developing his people, providing mentorship, and giving his team the tools and autonomy needed to succeed.
The Position:
The Project Engineer is a field-based support role focused on construction execution rather than design. This individual partners closely with Project Managers on active job sites, particularly on MEP, piping, plumbing, and mechanical scopes. The role is essential to maintaining documentation accuracy, coordinating stakeholders, tracking project requirements, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Projects are large in scale, fast-paced, and geographically diverse, offering broad exposure and continuous learning.
Essential Functions (Other duties may be assigned):
- Assist Project Managers with planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects.
- Utilize Procore and similar platforms to maintain accurate project documentation, drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
- Support project kickoff activities, including contract documentation and compliance requirements.
- Review and process submittals, RFIs, specifications, and drawings.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support schedules and workflows.
- Create and maintain logs and tracking tools for key project items.
- Attend and help facilitate meetings; document and distribute meeting minutes.
- Travel to job sites as needed to inspect work, investigate issues, and ensure compliance.
- Support project closeout activities including O&M manuals, as-built drawings, and owner training coordination.
- Ensure company safety policies and procedures are followed on all job sites.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Professional interpersonal skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and take initiative.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in building science, construction management, engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a construction support role.
- Experience working both independently and within a team environment.
- OSHA certifications desired.
