JOB SUMMARY:
As a key member of the finance team, the Assistant Controller will work closely with the Vice President Corporate Controller to oversee the company’s accounting operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This role will involve managing a team of accounting professionals, overseeing the month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting while maintaining strong internal controls.

In addition to overseeing financial reporting, the Assistant Controller will also contribute to budget management, financial analysis, and cross-departmental collaboration to support the achievement of company goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee month, quarter, and year-end close processes for multiple U.S. locations to meet established HQ and management deadlines.
- Review and analyze financial statements for discrepancies and variances, collaborating with other departments to confirm the accuracy and completeness of reporting.
- Prepare complete and accurate financial statement reports and accompanying disclosures in accordance with IFRS regulations and AGC internal guidelines.
- Monitor and interpret new accounting standards and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and implementation across the US locations.
- Manage the ongoing compliance of lease accounting standards, including IFRS 16.
- Coordinate and manage the internal and external audit processes within established timelines.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with J-SOX and regulatory requirements.
- Lead process improvement initiatives, streamline procedures, and enhance efficiency within the finance function.
- Oversee the preparation of supporting schedules utilized by AGC America for the US tax return and property tax renditions, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Supervise and mentor a team of financial professionals, guiding day-to-day activities and career development.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including IFRS and US GAAP
- Experience with SEC reporting preferred (for publicly traded companies)
- Proficiency in accounting ERP systems and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills
Preferred:
- CPA certification
- Microsoft Dynamics AX or 365 experience
COMPENSATION: base salary up to $170k with 10% bonus and 10% long-term compensation package. M/D/V benefits offered as well.
