Assistant Controller - Inventory Accounting

The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our finance department by ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, overseeing inventory transactions, and contributing to the efficient management of company assets. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing comprehensive monthly financial statements and reports to help guide business decision-making.
  • Monitor, verify, and reconcile inventory transactions to maintain accuracy in stock records and financial reports.
  • Maintain the integrity of the cost accounting system and investigate any discrepancies found within financial records.
  • Execute month-end journal entries and ensure the completeness of the closing tasks to maintain timely financial reporting.
  • Perform detailed general ledger analysis and reconcile accounts on a regular basis to ensure accuracy.
  • Manage inventory stock applications and transactions to ensure robust review mechanisms and reconciliation processes are in place.
  • Support customer credit research and extension initiatives, ensuring compliance with financial policies.
  • Prepare for and assist with the year-end audit, creating necessary schedules and liaising with both internal and external auditors.
  • Calculate depreciation for capital projects, maintaining accurate records in the fixed asset management system.
  • Offer backup support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable when needed.
  • Prepare monthly scrap invoices and generate various scrap reports annually and quarterly.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • At least 3-5 years of proven experience in a similar role, particularly within an assistant controller capacity.
  • Well-versed in cost accounting methodologies and principles.
  • Prior experience within the manufacturing sector preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification (CPA or CMA) is a major advantage.
  • Advanced knowledge in using financial software and systems related to inventory and cost accounting.
