Position Summary

The Cooler Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling air-cooled heat exchangers according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have direct, hands-on experience assembling air-cooled air exchangers and be proficient in the use of mechanical assembly tools and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble air-cooled heat exchangers and related components according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Install tubes, headers, fan assemblies, motors, guards, structural steel, and associated mechanical components.
  • Perform mechanical fitting, alignment, and fastening using hand and power tools.
  • Verify dimensions, tolerances, and completed assemblies meet quality standards.
  • Conduct inspections throughout the assembly process and identify defects or non-conformances.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with production, quality, and engineering teams to meet production schedules.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and rework when required.

Required Qualifications

  • Direct hands-on experience assembling air-cooled air exchangers (air-cooled heat exchangers) is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical assembly work, including standing, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of heat exchanger manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts (preferred).
  • Welding, rigging, or mechanical maintenance experience is a plus.
