Job Description
Position Summary: This role will establish operating excellence in assembly of our Mechanical Equipment and Hydraulic product lines. The Asembly Supervisor has responsibility to lead a manufacturing unit comprised of 2 to 3 team leaders, and approximately 50 to 60 hourly skilled and semi-skilled workers in a safe and productive manner while adhering to all quality and ISO standards.

We are looking for an individual who will proactively run Assembly as a business. The ideal candidate will be able to lead change and establish a high-performance work environment while also managing the day-to-day production requirements. He/she will be able to use performance data to quickly identify issues and will work collaboratively with his/her department and other organizations to drive Root Cause / Corrective Action. This leader will relentlessly implement best practices, achieve cost improvements and operating efficiencies.

Essential Duties:
Lead the Assembly team responsible for assembly and testing of all Mechanical Equipment and Hydraulic equipment.
Develop a manufacturing plan that addresses staffing requirements and flexibility to accomplish work in a very high mix, low volume environment; this includes detailed plans and actions to develop Mechanics to best match demand and lead-time requirements
Oversee and direct training programs for Mechanics that include required certifications, skill development matrices, and structured performance reviews
Lead training and development efforts of Team Leaders to become more effective coaches, trainers, mentors, and leaders
Work collaboratively with our Engineering, Quality, Fabrication, and Logistics leaders and teams to ensure parts meet our goals of quality, productivity and cost improvement
Create a culture of operating excellence – throughput, quality, cost, compliance to specification, responsiveness, and continuous improvement – that uses available data to drive performance and problem-solving and challenges the organization to learn and grow through daily interactive feedback
Establish, implement, and manage material handling and management practices in the work area that maintains 5S principles and increases departmental effectiveness
Adhere to ISO standards and conduct periodic quality audits
Proactively ensure safety compliance and audits to achieve a safe work place
Work closely with Master Scheduling and Production Control to ensure proper planning, resources, and capacity information is developed to meet customer requirements; this includes managing the daily work load to meet production and assembly requirements, addressing any rework/replace manufacturing orders, and overseeing production control functions that drives priorities, issue resolution, and order transparency
· Work with Process Engineers and Maintenance to ensure that all equipment and machines are properly laid out and configured, calibrated and operating effectively, have downtime impact tracked and assessed, and follow return-to-service protocol when coming back on-line or following installation
· Work with Process Engineers to optimize flow through the work area, and to accommodate growth plans in terms of capacity and capability



Ideal Candidate:
Experience in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment strongly preferred
Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred – Engineering, Operations or Business majors preferred

At least 7 years’ Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment requirement required
Must be a hands-on people leader who enjoys a shop floor presence
Looks for ways to improve safety and educate team about safer working techniques
Demonstrated ability to solve problems, and to enable their teams to solve problems
Experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing required; experience applying Six Sigma in situation-specific method a plus
Must be able to work effectively with Quality, Sourcing, Mechanical and Design Engineers, and Process Engineers to achieve corporate targets for safety, quality, and on time delivery in an extremely fast-paced environment
Takes responsibility to keep current about new technologies and manufacturing best practices that can be used to enhance or improve the assembly process
Basic or advanced understanding of business & financial information
