Assembly Area Manager

A plant leadership position to include supervision of assembly lines and oversight of assembly supervisors along with the planning, coordinating, and controlling of manufacturing processes within the designated production operating system. Assist the organization’s goals to foster a culture of respect, teamwork, lean manufacturing, standardized work, and continuous improvement. Apply an intense PDCA/8D corrective action process for problem resolution. Partner with cross functional teams within the plant to include; engineer, maintenance, finance, Human resources, logistics, quality, purchasing, sales, and the executive leadership team.

Must establish and maintain a good working relationship with the union and develop a culture that promotes and achieves the plant's objectives. Establish a good working relationship with all internal and external customers. Develop and mentor team members to foster autonomy. Required to support and drive the implementation and continuous improvement of activities in the designated production areas to meet production and business goals about; customer delivery, people, (safety/productivity), quality, and cost objectives.


• Ensures production is efficient & cost effective.
• Supervision of assigned assembly lines and manage assembly supervisors on the shift.
• Ensures production is on time, of good quality and done in a safe manner.
• Manages health and safety and plant rules/ policies compliance: PPE compliance, uniform, safety shoes, safety glasses, and stretching activity daily.
• Quality Matrix: line scrap by shift-trend, customer QR’s by line, FTT PPM.
• Ensures 5S and zoning is followed and maintained.
• Monitors the production process and follow deviation process/procedure requirements.
• Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies & incorporate data driven analysis.
• Ensures proper administration & application of the collective bargaining agreement amongst team and proactively consults with HR when necessary.
• Manage & motivates team in a manner that is inclusive and enhances employee engagement and respect.
• Evaluate the performance of subordinates including coaching, providing constructive feedback, and setting goals & development plans.
• Identify cross training and rotation with versatility matrix and ergonomic assessments.
• Understand bottleneck and process improvements, tracking line down time in PLEX and RTO staffing to achieve engineering standards and eradicating non-standard activities.
• Assure scrap procedures are followed, reduction of scrap, and eradicating daily scrap issues.
• Visual boards of KPI are done and updated daily along with communication materials, 5 min meetings topics.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
3-5 years of experience in manufacturing operations (preferably in automotive)
experience supervising production areas &/or salary employees.
Manufacturing launch, maintenance &/or engineering experience a plus. Strong interpersonal skills, business acumen and knowledge in the areas of manufacturing engineering, maintenance, material planning & logistics, and quality. Proven leadership leading team of over 50 FTE and ability to drive results.
