Architectural Project Manager I
ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT MANAGER I
TUSCALOOSA, AL
This position provides leadership in planning, developing and managing all phases of a project. The Project Manager is responsible for the quality of work performed, project schedules, client service, utilization of staff, marketing, reputation of the office, contract management, billing, collection strategies and project profitability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Directs daily activities of design team, including in-house team members and outside consultants, to achieve an efficient flow of work.
2. Assists the Principal with proposals and fee negotiations.
3. Routinely monitors and is accountable for project budgets and profitability.
4. Prepares and controls project schedules.
5. Monitors contracts, subcontracts, change orders and other agreements to ensure that contract terms and established Ward Scott Morris Architecture procedures are being followed.
6. Anticipates, investigates and resolves project related issues and problems as they occur.
7. Maintains and enhances professional relationships with clients, consultants and others.
8. Secures future work through overt marketing efforts.
9. Prepares and participates in presentations.
10. Attends, participates, and leads project meetings both in house and at job sites.
11. Performs on-site constructions observations and prepares associated reports.
12. Assists the Principal in the training and project performance evaluation of personnel.
13. Provides leadership to ensure projects are completed in accordance with designated designs, codes, specifications, industry standards, Ward Scott Morris Architecture office, budgets and schedule requirements.
14. Responsible for the accuracy and quality of all technical work.
15. Makes and monitors design/technical decisions while maintaining current knowledge of relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment and/or systems.
16. Reviews invoices before distribution to Principal for final review.
17. Ensures that their own hours are accurately entered at the project level in the time tracking module each day. Ensures that all hours for other project staff are accurately entered at the project level in the time tracking module each week.
18. In conjunction with supervisor, develops a training plan to improve job skills and enhance career development.
19. Follows all Ward Scott Morris Architecture, Inc., policies and procedures.
20. Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Document production experience required and a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture or related field preferred.
- Project management experience is required. Valid state driver’s license required. Familiarity with current building codes, city, state and federal regulations, American with Disabilities Act and other regulatory codes required.
- Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
- Advanced proficiency in rendering software (Lumion, InScape, etc.) is preferred.
- Must have well developed communication and organizational skills.
