POSITION SUMMARY

Will serve as a project team leader in pre-design, design, construction documentation, & construction administrative tasks. Will supervise & mentor other architectural project team members assuring delegated tasks are successfully performed and project meets client’s parameters, construction budgets, project, schedules & quality standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Independently develop & design technical solutions as a senior level Architect.

2. Assists in developing project, scope, Client needs assessments and all needed parameters for the project, Will schedule, staffing needs, and monitor work progress to ensure established project requirements are met for all phases of project development including schematic design, design development, construction documents & construction administration phases.

3. May function as a Project Manager on projects, developing work plan for completing the project including planning, directing, & monitoring the work of the project team. Prepares and reports project status & performance issues, and maintains related records as required.

4. Ensures effective communication of project requirements, established presentation and quality control procedures to team members. Will coordinate meetings and communications with Project Manager, other disciplines, and outside consultants regarding project issues including technical coordination.

5. Will ensure technical appropriateness and constructability of all documents and presentations. Will provide technical expertise and guidance to project team including reviewing design concepts, recommending modifications or variations to simplify design or further develop design elements.

6. Produces construction documents under general direction of Department Manager.

7. Will perform data collection, documentation, and analysis for existing facilities assessment relative to future needs evaluations.

8. Will write outline specifications for design development &technical specifications for construction documents. Will coordinate, review & red-line technical specifications prepared by other disciplines & outside consultants in accordance with building code requirements & conformance to design intentions.

9. Will research all applicable building codes, performs required calculations and documents the means of
complying with code requirements for the project & co-ordinate with government regulatory agencies.

10. Will co-ordinate the preparation of construction cost estimates, budget, and review all assumptions regarding costs.

11. Reviews shop drawings and supervises others in review of shop drawings.

12. Manages bid process and construction administration. Will serve as primary contact to contractors for information requests and coordinates responses from all disciplines and consultants as required.

13. Directs the efforts of interns and other architects through mentoring and direct supervision.

14. Maintains project files in accordance with established standards and procedures. Will assess, solves & documents issues during construction.

REQUIRED Education, Training, and/or Experience:

1. Professional degree in Architecture or equivalent permitted for licensure.
2. Eight years of previous work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Ten years or more of previous work experience. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
1. U.S. State Architecture license required.
