The Architect–Design Project Manager is a licensed architectural leader responsible for driving the strategic planning, design execution, and entitlement of complex senior living and multifamily housing projects within a design-build environment. This role provides end-to-end ownership across the project lifecycle, from proposal development and design development through construction documentation and agency approvals. The position requires a forward-thinking professional who combines technical expertise, leadership presence, and business acumen to deliver high-impact projects while aligning cross-functional teams around quality, budget, and schedule objectives.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assume full ownership and accountability for projects across design development, entitlement, and preconstruction phases.
  • Lead and mentor internal design teams while coordinating external consultants to ensure integrated, high-quality project delivery.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive entitlement and preconstruction schedules aligned with overall project milestones.
  • Oversee proposal generation, design budgeting, consultant RFP development, and execution of consultant agreements.
  • Deliver senior living and multifamily housing projects through coordinated production of construction documents and successful navigation of agency approvals.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to align architectural, engineering, and construction teams within a design-build framework.
  • Champion quality assurance standards, budget forecasting accuracy, and value engineering initiatives to optimize project outcomes.
  • Manage complex, high-stakes projects involving evolving client expectations, multiple consultants, and dynamic municipal entitlement processes.
  • Demonstrate proactive problem-solving, calculated risk assessment, and decisive leadership in navigating project challenges.

Qualifications
  • Active registration as a Licensed Architect with the ability to stamp drawings in Minnesota.
  • Minimum of five years of architectural industry experience, including at least two years leading design teams.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering senior living or multifamily housing projects.
  • Proven proficiency in project lifecycle management, including design development, entitlement processes, and consultant coordination.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
  • Advanced proficiency with Revit, Twinmotion, Lumion, and AI-assisted design tools.
  • Approximately six or more years as a registered architect preferred; 15 years of total industry experience ideal.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a client-centric orientation and the ability to lead across disciplines.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced design-build culture.
