Driver Monitoring System Applications Engineer

What you'll do:

The Applications Engineer will support all phases of Driver Monitoring System development, testing, customer vehicle integration and production launch. In this role the Applications Engineer will interface directly with the Project Manager, the Design Lead, Electrical, Mechanical and Software Engineers, Test Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers and the vehicle OEM customer. The Applications Engineer will report directly to the Product Engineering Manager.

  • Create and maintain end item BOM, end item drawing, and end item releases and PPAP. Utilize customer required releasing system as necessary.
  • Manage Change Control
  • Support internal development testing, including vehicle integration validation.
  • Support Design and Process Validation (DV/PV)
  • Troubleshoot product issues, lead root-cause analysis, document issue reports
  • Provide customer build support and in-vehicle trouble shooting assistance as required.
  • Support customer testing as required, such as vehicle electrical testing, vehicle EMC testing, and breadboard testing.
  • Attend customer meetings as a representative. Provide appropriate project documentation and status updates as needed.
  • Create and maintain the production specification including industrialization of the system.
  • Travel as needed to Ford and other customer engineering and manufacturing sites.
  • Travel as needed manufacturing site.
  • Participate and lead meetings with development colleagues at international sites during late evening or early morning as needed.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of automotive electronics experience preferred
  • Ability to understand complex systems and help clarify into simpler terms
  • Ability to read/interpret product specifications and requirements
  • Ability to read/interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to use Dataloggers, CANalyzer, and data acquisition equipment
  • Familiarity with DVP&R, FMEA, 8D, 5Why
