A rapidly scaling software innovator is seeking a passionate and experienced Application Engineer to take full ownership of their mission-critical desktop application. This app powers vital interactions for thousands of users daily, with applications in audio processing and hardware-software interfacing.
As the company accelerates its roadmap, this hire will help transform a working MVP into a reliable, high-performance platform—shaping the next generation of product stability and feature enhancements.
This Role Offers:
- Generous PTO, healthcare options, 401(k) match up to 4%, and equity potential.
- Join a product used daily by thousands: your work will have direct influence over user satisfaction and long-term platform health.
- A fast-paced, low-red-tape environment where innovation and ownership are encouraged.
Focus:
- Lead the ongoing development, performance tuning, and architectural hardening of a desktop application built on Electron.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to implement enhancements and resolve complex bugs across platforms.
- Optimize audio recording functionality, interfacing directly with sound card drivers and system-level audio hardware on Windows, Mac, and Linux-based platforms.
- Integrate secure authentication protocols, using role-based access control and token-based authorization.
- Develop low-level code modules using C/C++ to support system-level functionality and performance optimization.
- Create and manage MongoDB integrations and handle database queries for app efficiency and scalability.
- Support cross-platform deployment of the desktop application and collaborate with DevOps for streamlined delivery.
- Troubleshoot and debug hardware-software integration issues, including edge-case audio driver behavior.
Skill Set:
- 2+ years of experience in Electron (or similar frameworks like Tauri) building cross-platform desktop applications.
- Hands-on experience developing with audio hardware, including sound card driver interfaces and embedded audio handling.
- Proficiency in C, C++, and JavaScript (including Node.js); comfort with writing scripts and spawning system-level processes.
- Experience with native desktop application deployment on Windows and Mac; Linux knowledge (esp. Chromebook) is a strong plus.
- Understanding of database systems such as MongoDB and cloud integrations (Google Cloud/BigQuery).
- Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) is beneficial but not mandatory.
Preferred:
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Background working in performance-critical audio, embedded, or desktop software environments.
- Interest in building and supporting security-focused applications.
- Independent problem-solver and systems thinker who can balance legacy code refactoring with forward-looking improvements.
