Aerospace Subcontract Manager

Join our team in a pivotal role as an Aerospace Subcontract Manager at our Fort Wayne, Indiana, location. This full-time opportunity is ideal for professionals experienced in managing complex subcontracting processes within the aerospace and defense sectors. The Subcontract Manager will tackle the challenges of ensuring subcontract alignment with strategic program objectives related to cost, timelines, and technical performance. This role is essential for driving successful program execution by overseeing proposal development, negotiation, contract finalization, and integration of subcontract deliverables.

Salary: $110,000 - $135,000 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute all aspects of subcontracting from proposal through integration, focusing on alignment with program objectives and performance metrics.
  • Develop expertise in a range of contract structures including FFP, Cost Reimbursement, T&M, CPFF, and CPIF, alongside mastery in government proposal processes and BOE.
  • Negotiate effectively and manage subcontractor relationships while mitigating program risks.
  • Review technical Statements of Work (SOWs), streamline project scopes, and bolster cross-functional accountability to reduce ambiguities in technical specifications.
  • Navigate complex FAR/DFAR regulations and Prime Contract flowdowns, ensuring compliance with ITAR/EAR and other international trade regulations.
  • Apply problem-solving techniques and analytical skills to overcome project hurdles and facilitate seamless program execution.
  • Foster interdepartmental collaboration with Contracts, Program Management, Finance, Engineering, Quality, and Business Development to enhance process and strategy execution.
  • Analyze and address complex program changes and issues, providing detailed reports and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholder groups.
  • Liaise with technical teams to refine processes, optimize Statements of Work, and implement cost-saving and risk-reduction strategies.
  • Drive subcontracting strategies that are align with intellectual property and patent requisites.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 9 years of experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 7 years of pertinent experience.
  • At least 5 years of dedicated experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of FAR/DFAR regulations.
  • Proven track record in managing complex budgets and forecasts in a subcontracting environment.
  • Professional experience in managing legal and formal document negotiations relating to subcontracting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DoD security clearance.
  • Certification or significant exposure to Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
