Aerospace Quality Engineer
We are seeking a dedicated Aerospace Quality Engineer to join our team in Boulder, CO. This full-time position involves working on the manufacturing of advanced aerospace products and technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and electronics engineering, with a keen eye for quality assurance and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment compliant with AS9100 standards. This role requires a detail-oriented approach to inspect, test, and enhance products to ensure high-quality standards are met consistently before they reach the customer.
Salary: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primary proficiency in electrical and electronics.
- Understand IPC structure and standards.
- Review Engineering drawings and procedures for Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
- Review supplier AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports and Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) sampling inspection reports.
- Incoming inspection of materials and ensuring traceable documentation.
- Address Supplier Correction Action Requests (SCAR) and drive Internal Corrective Action Report (ICAR).
- Reconcile nonconforming materials and Nonconformance Reports (NCRs).
- Lead Material Review Board (MRB), and drive closure to nonconformances.
- Review Detailed Process Procedure (DPP), Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP).
- Conduct In-Process Quality Assurance (IPQA) to validate manufacturing builds.
- Create AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and ensure final inspection of hardware.
- Prepare for source inspection and interact with customers.
- Ensure build documentation completeness and create Certificates of Conformance (CoCs).
- Clear oral and written communication skills.
- Visual Inspection using microscopes and understanding ESD protocols.
- Conduct training of procedural and process changes, and archive & scan all applicable records and objective evidence.
- Support AS9100 audits, customer surveys, and conduct internal audits and supplier assessments.
- Assist QA Inspectors and Manager as needed.
- Travel required up to 10% or as needed for business requirements.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
- Technical degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related Engineering degree.
- 5 years of experience in an AS9100 Quality Management System work environment.
- Familiar with PCB, PCBA, Cable & Harness manufacturing.
- J-STD-001 certification.
- Strong understanding of IPC-A-600, 610, 620 standards.
- Understand mechanical and dimensional Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T); CMM experience a plus.

- Proficient in using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height stands, and gauges.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to determine root causes and drive corrective actions.
- Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize effectively.
- Superb communications skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams and interacting with partners.
- Advanced documentation and record-keeping abilities, familiarity with archival and scanning of records.
