We are seeking a Buyer for a 6-12+ month contract (with possibility of extension and/or conversion to perm) in Huntsville, Alabama to support procurement and supply chain activities for various aerospace and technology systems. This position plays a key role in managing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of critical materials. The Buyer will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure supplier performance aligns with company standards.

Duration: 6-month contract (potential for extension or conversion)

This role offers the opportunity to drive efficiency and innovation in supply chain management while contributing to cutting-edge aerospace and engineering projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate suppliers to support the external development of aerospace systems.

  • Prioritize and execute program requirements to meet business and mission needs.

  • Prepare and issue Requests for Proposal (RFPs) / Requests for Quote (RFQs) and perform price analyses.

  • Develop negotiation strategies and lead formal contract negotiations.

  • Construct and manage various contract types, including long-term procurement agreements, sourcing partnerships, and strategic contracts.

  • Oversee the procurement process from requisition to final payment and resolve any issues.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

  • Ensure materials are delivered on time, within budget, and meet technical requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement and supplier management (or 3+ years with a Master’s degree).

  • Strong knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and various contract types (FFP, T&M, CPFF, CPIF).

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with experience managing supplier relationships.

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills, with experience tracking program metrics.

  • Understanding of AS9100 standards and engineering data (specifications, source control drawings).

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Aerospace or Space industry.

  • Knowledge of Avionics or Fluid components procurement.

  • Familiarity with ITAR/EAR regulations for import/export compliance.

  • CPSM, CSCP, or PMP certification.

  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint, Jira, and SharePoint.
