Job Summary

We're excited to partner with a world leader in enterprise retail self-checkout solutions, seeking a Technical Sales Specialist. This role often goes by "Overlay", "Subject Matter Expert" or "Self Checkout Specialist."

This is a remote position, meaning the oerson can be located in or near any major metro US market cloe to the HQ of a major retailer.

Provides self service solutions, product and systems expertise to support solution definition and positioning and go-to-market strategy development. Serve as a solution advisor internally, with product / service colleagues, and externally with customers. Contributes to portfolio roadmap development and promotion, opportunity identification and qualification and decision-making around local specification and pricing.

Working in partnership with T1 and T2 Retailers on business and C level, to create a winning check-out Strategy or delivery. We work with customers and prospects on new checkout concepts, optimization and deployments leveraging DN’s Hardware, Software and AI based solutions.

You will work in collaboration with our sales team to provide hardware and software sales expertise, leverage experience from the industry and past deployments to deliver a winning check-out strategy alongside our product portfolio, recommending the optimal mix of solutions by also taking future change into account.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages the large and complex customer engagements – Retail tier 1, tier 2.
  • Develop an understanding of the customer's business to customize the solution approach to the needs of our customer and position our value selling attributes
  • Informs customers of various company services, products, features and optimizations.
  • Develops and presents customers with comprehensive, value-added solution proposals and value propositions.
  • Works with regional sales teams to develop GTM strategies and planning for assigned products.
  • Helps define and provide the value proposition for assigned products, leveraging knowledge of both the customer and the solution.
  • Acts as a technical sales liaison and manages escalations into product and systems software management.
  • Assists with translating customer needs into solutions, including system configuration and pricing.
  • Contributes to the pre-sales process, helping coordinate resources, with proposal construction and contributing to preparation of RFP responses.
  • Contributes to the integration and ongoing support of customer evaluation systems.
  • Typical contact at senior management level and may have limited exposure to Executive level decision makers.

Required Qualifications


  • Minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience in the field od self-checkout,and front-end transformation.
  • Documented track record of success selling enterprise self-checkout solutions to T-1 Retailers.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Retail Store procedures and the utilization of technology within the environment.
  • Knowledge of Software and Service solution sales would be advantageous.
  • Proven success in high quota carrying position.
  • Consultative sales experience with complex solution design is desired.
  • Exhibit skills, characteristics, traits and work habits that greatly enhance the likelihood of success as a sales manager, ex: solution-oriented and entrepreneurial mindset, time and territory management, customer empathy.
  • Proficient in all MS Office products with an emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, strategic planning, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills at all levels of the organization, including senior executive levels.
  • Possess experience with CRM software, such as Salesforce, to maximize opportunities.
