Actuary II- Modeling
We're seeking a highly skilled and analytical actuary to support their Personal Lines business. This individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining actuarial models that directly contribute to pricing strategies, risk assessment, and overall company performance. The position can be leveled up based on experience and offers remote flexibility.
What You Will Be Doing
You will support strategic decision-making by providing accurate and insightful actuarial modeling.
- Develop and maintain actuarial models in line with CAS principles
- Ensure models are up-to-date, accurate, and error-free
- Serve as the subject matter expert on modeling inputs and conclusions
- Conduct complex quantitative analyses to support pricing and product development
- Collaborate across departments to align models with business needs
- Identify and remediate modeling issues proactively
- Present findings to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Represent the actuarial team in cross-functional discussions and initiatives
What You Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree plus professional certifications (e.g., INS 21, 22, 23) or equivalent experience
- 2–3+ years of actuarial experience, preferably in personal lines
- Passed MAS I and MAS II, or equivalent knowledge
- Experience with GLMs and complex insurance data modeling
- Proficiency in SAS or SQL
- Knowledge of insurance operations and regulatory environments
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office
- Ability to modify existing processes or innovate new ones
Preferred Qualifications:
- California Auto modeling experience
- Credit for 4+ exams on the CAS syllabus
- Experience with Earnix or Emblem
- Programming ability in R or Python
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS
- Strong communication skills and experience working with senior management
