🚀 Our O&G client is a well-established independent energy company that has an on-site opening for an Accounting Manager in Houston, Texas. This will be a multi-faceted role and the Accounting Manager will directly collaborate with the Controller and CFO playing a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, and supporting leadership with accurate financial data. Typical duties include the following:
- Responsible for the monthly close process, including managing the AP, revenue and JIB cycles
- Prepare monthly consolidating financial statements and annual audited financial statements
- Lead the annual budget process and provide variance analysis
- Lead the effort on tax compliance and other accounting/finance-related regulatory projects
- Prepare/review account reconciliations and various journal entries
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and industry regulations
- Manage and mentor team members fostering development and efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 5-9 years of progressive relevant experience (upstream oil and gas accounting experience is a must)
- Strong analytical and technical accounting skills (i.e. US GAAP)
- CPA a plus

- Desire to be part of a growing company/team and wear multiple hats
- Automation-oriented (or be comfortable with change to streamline execution)
- Must be able to juggle multiple projects/competing demands and be able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
- Competency in MS Office, comfortable with Excel, formulas and data organization
- Accounting software experience a plus (OGYS, P2 Excalibur/Bolo, Enertia, or other O&G software)
- Accuracy and attention to detail, with an aptitude for numbers
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently
