SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager position is responsible for the overall accounting operations of the company, including the production and review of financial reporting, the maintenance of the accounting systems and records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Enhance the financial close process, propose continuous improvement opportunities, and employ robust internal controls and compliance within the business.
  • Ensure business is in compliance by tracking permitting, licenses, and others as necessary
  • Liaise with VP Finance to improve financial procedures
  • Review period-end accruals and cost allocations for shared costs such as labor and insurance; review period-end close process, including account reconciliations and journal entries prepared by outsourced accounting firm for corporate & restaurant entities
  • Review expense report approvals (in Expensify), manage, review and code credit card transactions, and review labor entries against management reporting for discrepancies
  • Review vendor invoices in Plate IQ (AP cloud-based system) for approval and payment
  • Prepare invoices and process A/R collection
  • Manage inventory control
  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Manage miscellaneous AR/AP processes and tasks
  • Develop and manage a process to audit franchise sales reporting
  • Assist in preparing support and documentation for the annual financial audit
  • Manage loan application, covenant and compliance
  • Build capex budgets, track spend, and maintain fixed asset schedules
  • Provide input into department’s goal setting process
  • Performs other duties assigned.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
  • Proven experience in accounting managing direct reports and improving accounting processes
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Awareness of business trends
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages
  • Advanced MS Excel skills; proficiency in MS Office
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant highly preferred; previous accounting experience required.
  • Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) preferred
