Carolina PRG has partnered with a growing, multi-entity organization is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Accounting Manager to lead its accounting operations and support continued growth. This role serves as a hands-on accounting leader responsible for financial reporting, internal controls, process improvement, and team development.
The Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day accounting function, ensure the integrity of financial information, and provide meaningful analysis and insights to executive leadership. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong technical accounting expertise, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Oversee daily departmental workflows and ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting activities.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development and succession planning.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and retain high-performing accounting professionals.
- Address performance concerns and administer corrective actions in accordance with company policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, direct, and oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and month-end close activities.
- Manage the collection, review, and consolidation of financial data to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Partner with external auditors and coordinate annual audits
- Develop financial dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and analytical reporting to support executive decision-making.
- Provide meaningful analysis and recommendations based on financial and operational performance.
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and long-range financial planning.
- Evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and controls to increase efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.
- Assess and strengthen internal controls and ensure appropriate segregation of duties.
- Develop and monitor business performance metrics and identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee tax compliance, regulatory reporting, and other statutory requirements.
- Support inventory management processes and implement effective inventory controls, as applicable.
- Participate in ERP implementations, system enhancements, and other cross-functional initiatives.
- Lead or support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred.
- Minimum of four to six years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Minimum of two years of public accounting experience required; experience with a national or regional public accounting firm preferred.
- Prior supervisory or management experience required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience managing multi-entity accounting environments is preferred.
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, distribution, or other project-based industries is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
