ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Direct Hire role with our client in the Pittsburgh area.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager to join our client. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting operations for a multi-location business with significant inventory activity. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, leadership ability, and experience managing complex transactional environments.

This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting operational decision-making across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory accounting teams
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts across multiple locations
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including valuation, costing, and reconciliation processes
  • Partner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate inventory tracking and reporting
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements for accuracy
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Assist with external audits and tax compliance as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and financial visibility
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    CPA or CMA preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility
  • Experience working in a multi-location environment
  • Strong background in inventory accounting and costing
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and internal control frameworks
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
