Accounting Manager

JOB SUMMARY

As an integral member of our finance team, the Accounting Manager will support the VP, Corporate Controller in overseeing all aspects of the revenue recognition processes, cost accounting, and inventory management, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and providing accurate financial reporting. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of revenue and cost accounting principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the implementation and ongoing compliance of revenue recognition standards (IFRS 15), including assessing the appropriate accounting treatment for revenue contracts.
  • Oversee month and year-end close processes related to revenue recognition, cost accruals, and inventory valuation.
  • Perform detailed analysis of revenue streams, cost of goods sold (COGS), and inventory turnover to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare, review and/or approve journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures in revenue recognition and inventory management.
  • Ensure compliance and implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory changes related to revenue, inventory and cost.
  • Manage coordination of internal and external audit processes for revenue, cost and inventory.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls and ensure compliance with J-SOX and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of supporting revenue schedules for the US tax return.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Assist management with the design and implementation of accounting software and ERP systems.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience, with 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role; ideally in a manufacturing setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including IFRS and US GAAP.
  • Proficiency in accounting ERP systems and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX or 365, preferred.

COMPENSATION RANGE: up to a base salary of $145k plus a bonus of 10%. Health and other corporate benefits provided.
