The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and actively participating in the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing $80M manufacturing company. This role combines leadership and hands-on execution, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and timely close processes. The Accounting Manager will supervise a small team while also directly performing key accounting functions. This position reports to the Chief Accounting Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and participate in all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Oversee and maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Supervise and support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
  • Prepare and review financial statements and internal management reports
  • Ensure compliance with S. GAAP, including proper application of ASC 606 revenue recognition
  • Manage project accounting, including tracking costs, revenue, and profitability by project
  • Oversee and analyze cost of sales, WIP reporting, inventory, and manufacturing-related accounting processes
  • Ensure accurate and timely sales tax reporting and compliance
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting policies
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and leadership to support financial decision-making
  • Utilize and optimize Microsoft Dynamics 365 (ERP) for accounting operations and reporting
  • Assist with audits, including preparation of schedules and coordination with external auditors

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration
  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, in manufacturing environments
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems
  • Demonstrated ability to both lead and execute tasks
  • Proven track record of improving business processes and stream lining workflows
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
