ACCOUNTING MANAGER #201600
The Manager of Accounting is a Direct Hire position. This full-time 40 hour position is a Hybrid Remote position requiring 2-3 days in the office with 2-3 days working remote. This position will be responsible for the accounting functions. This position provides support for the members of the business office Team and ensures processes and procedures are in place to support effective internal controls. This position reports directly to the Director of Accounting. Annual salary pay rate is between $93,000 to 96,000.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (Essential functions, other tasks/expectations, along with percentages of time)
Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and accounting close process.
• Plan and facilitate all aspects of the annual audit ensuring we meet necessary deadlines.
• Assist with annual tax filings and ensures compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Responsible for maintenance and review of the accounting structure of the ERP.
• Reconciles accounts to the organizations financial system. Researches and resolves problems and adjusts accordingly. Ensures supporting documentation exists for audit purposes.
• Review and reconcile recording of all transactions that are made related to treasury/ cashiering.
• Manage daily cash requirements through effective reporting, monitoring, and collaboration with the Controller.
• Maintain bank relationships and oversee various transactions (wire transfers, ACH, etc.).
• Oversee all investment accounting and reporting.
• Oversee the general ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.
• Directs cash receipts operations and related bank reconciliations to ensure that cash transactions are properly reported in the appropriate period.
• Tracks fixed asset acquisitions and performs verification and auditing procedures. Reviews and processes asset disposals.
• Collect and formats data for special projects and management studies and/or reviews data gathered by others for accuracy. Prepares various financial reports, as required.
• Assists IT in system modifications and upgrades to enhance functionality of ERP or other applications.
• May act as a lead to other accountants, financial staff, and/or student workers with work assignments, problem resolution, and/or with special projects. Provides leadership guidance as needed. Assists in training or scheduling work assignments as required.
• Establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships within a diverse and multicultural environment. Work with staff as a team leader to provide high quality, efficient and exceptional service.
• Performs other related duties as assigned. Must be responsive to work-related phone calls and emails during non-business hours on occasion.
REQUIRED SKILLS and EDUCATION: (Non-negotiable; minimum requirements, skills, experience, certifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required, in accounting (preferred) or a related field required; • Strong proficiency and work experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) information systems • Results-oriented leadership with success in managing an accounting team • Strong analytical skills with ability to utilize data in decision making • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to foster a cooperative work environment and inspire staff • Demonstrated experience in and a commitment to diversity; the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with various constituencies within diverse communities, internally and externally. • Must be able to work efficiently, cooperatively, and collaboratively in a team environment. • Flexible and willing to adapt to changes in the work environment. • Strong problem-solving skills.
REQUIRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE: (Success factors or preferred attributes/competencies)
5+ years management operations of a business office function (preferably in a higher education, or non-profit environment.)
