Essential Job Functions
- Support the Accounting Manager in monitoring and analyzing accounting data and producing financial reports and statements.
- Supervise all the accounting procedures and processes for the AR and AP teams.
- Manage ledger entries, banking reconciliations, and prepare monthly balance sheet statements.
- Investigate daily variances to identify errors, resolve discrepancies, and maintain compliance and data integrity.
- Assist the Accounting Manager in developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures and systems that support internal controls and expenditure management.
- Assign correct accounting codes to invoices, files, and receipts to maintain accurate and well-organized records.
- Support compliance with US GAAP and IFRS standards & procedures, applicable laws as well as Company accounting policies and procedures.
- Support the Accounting Manager in supervising, training and providing guidance to Accounting staff, including recruiting, interviewing and training new team members; provide constructive feedback, coaching, and conduct performance evaluations as needed.
- Improve workflow and efficiency during the ERP implementation process.
- Review payroll, vendor payments, commissions, and other accounting disbursements for accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in coordinating internal and external audit activities by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
- Attend Company events and functions outside of normal working hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Obligation to answer to all management as requested.
Other Requirements
- Business level English – Read/write/speak/listen.
- Business level Japanese; Native level Japanese preferred – Read/write/speak/listen.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload.
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or other related field required.
- 5+ years of experience in Accounting or other relevant experience required, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License and JSOX experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft based ERP systems (Business Central, Dynamics NAV), and QuickBooks.
Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced mathematical knowledge – profit margin calculations, markups, discounts, counting inventory, weight and measurement conversions, combining, etc.
- Strong organizational, leadership and time management skills.
- Proficiency in accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills.
- Experience with bank reconciliation and tracking credit card transactions.
