Accountant
Job Description
Our client in the legal sector is seeking to hire an Accountant who will oversee all financial operations, including bookkeeping, reporting, compliance, and budgeting. The role requires delivering accurate financial insights, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and supporting strategic decision-making, while maintaining strong internal controls and working collaboratively across teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Full-Spectrum Financial Management
- Maintain all ledgers, journals, and transaction records.
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and expense tracking.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Provide management with financial insights, variance analysis, and forecasts.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure timely tax filings, statutory returns, and adherence to accounting standards.
- Act as the primary liaison with auditors, regulators, and tax authorities.
Budgeting & Strategic Support
- Develop annual budgets and monitor performance against targets.
- Advise management on cost efficiencies, investment decisions, and risk exposure.
Systems & Controls
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets.
- Manage accounting software and ensure data integrity.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, HR, and management to align financial processes with business goals.
- Translate complex financial data into clear insights for non-financial staff.
- Support debt recovery efforts.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in a similar role.
- Strong command of accounting software (ERP systems, QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.
- Solid financial analysis and modeling capabilities.
- Ability to balance transactional responsibilities with strategic advisory.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently under pressure.
