Job Title: Account Manager – Automotive OEM (Interiors & Acoustics)
Location: Detroit Metropolitan Area, Michigan (Hybrid – Primarily Remote)
Travel: <25% (Local OEM visits and occasional travel to headquarters)
Position Overview
Seeking a highly motivated Account Manager located in the Detroit metropolitan
area to manage and grow business with major automotive OEM customers. This role will
focus on selling interior and acoustical component solutions used in vehicle programs.
The position is primarily remote-based, with occasional time in a local oPice and periodic
visits to customer locations. The company’s corporate headquarters is located out of
state, and the Account Manager will work closely with engineering, program management,
and leadership teams located there.
Most customer engagement will occur through virtual meetings, supported by periodic in-
person visits during program development, sourcing events, and relationship-building
activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage OEM customer relationships within the Detroit automotive ecosystem.
• Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned OEM accounts and
programs.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities for interior and acoustical
products.
• Coordinate with internal engineering, program management, and manufacturing
teams to support RFQs and product development activities.
• Lead the commercial process for quotations, pricing negotiations, and contract
discussions.
• Support vehicle program launches, ensuring alignment between customer
expectations and internal capabilities.
• Monitor program profitability and sales performance within assigned accounts.
• Provide market intelligence regarding customer trends, competitive activity, and
future vehicle programs.
• Represent the company at customer meetings, engineering reviews, and
sourcing discussions.
• Maintain strong communication with headquarters and cross-functional teams to
ensure customer satisfaction and program success.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent
experience).
• 5+ years of experience in automotive sales, account management, or business
development.
• Experience working with automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
• Familiarity with automotive interiors, NVH, or acoustical components strongly
preferred.• Proven ability to manage RFQ processes, pricing negotiations, and long-term
supply agreements.
• Strong relationship-building skills with both purchasing and engineering teams at
OEM customers.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong
collaboration with internal teams.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft ORice and CRM tools.
Preferred Experience
• Prior experience selling automotive interior systems, soft trim, or acoustical
materials.
• Understanding of vehicle development cycles and sourcing timelines.
• Experience managing multi-program automotive accounts.
Work Environment
• Home-based role located in the Detroit metro area.
• Occasional time in a local oRice as needed.
• Regular virtual customer meetings and collaboration with out-of-state
headquarters.
• Travel less than 25%, primarily within the Detroit region with occasional visits to
headquarters.
