Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Academic Skills Lecturer for our Client in higher education. The ideal candidate will be primarily responsible for delivering the English Proficiency Programme (EPP), English for Academic Purpose Programme (EAP), and Critical Thinking modules. As an Academic Skills Lecturer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing students' language proficiency, academic writing skills, and critical thinking abilities. Key Responsibilities
  • Teach, examine, and provide administrative duties on the English proficiency programme as required.
  • Contribute to the curriculum development and the design of individual courses offered within the English proficiency programme.
  • Identify learning needs of students, plan and design the development of learning objectives, and develop teaching materials, methods and approaches.
  • Design, synthesise, create and deliver high-quality programme contributions across a range of settings including lecturing, small-group tutorials, practical laboratory classes and design project activities.
  • Engage in scholarly activity in the English proficiency programme.
  • Contribute regularly to foundation programme's workshops, field trips, project work, discussion groups and collaborative research groups.
  • Contribute to English proficiency programme's academic and pastoral care of its students and the enhancement of their learning, personal development and achievement.
  • Develop and maintain links with relevant professional bodies and academic groupings.
  • Contribute to the development of the interface with external organisations.
  • Assume various administrative tasks and responsibilities as requested.
Required Competencies

Educational/Academic Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree preferably MPhil. degree in English from reputable tertiary institution
  • Minimum of 3 years post qualification relevant working experience in Higher Education Institution (HEI).
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (International) (or equivalent) will be desirable
Technical
  • Relevant experience in the development of teaching and learning materials and the delivery of academic skills and writing workshops
  • Excellent administration, communication and presentation skills
  • Sound working knowledge of IT (especially Office applications) and use of the Internet
  • Excellent attention to detail; and
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and efficiently.

  • Experience of working with diverse groups of students and staff
