SUMMARY: This position assists the Principal Architect in planning and developing all phases of a project. The Senior Project Manager functions as the day-to-day point of contact for all interface, coordination, construction oversight, reviews, verifications, quality assurance, and close out activities related to assigned projects. Advanced knowledge is applied to all project management related functions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Assess the requirements of a project and then work with the Principal Architect to determine scope of work, budget, staffing, and project tasks.
2. Ability to interpret a building program and generate varied design concepts in concert with and assigned by Principal Architect.
3. Possesses advanced knowledge of applicable building codes. Works with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is required.
4. Assigns and reviews work of project design team. Checks progress of work and alerts Principal Architect to change of scope or additional services.
5. Coordinates directly with contractors, construction managers, etc. during the construction phase and, in coordination with Principal Architect where required, renders decisions regarding issues and dispute resolution.
6. Provides oversight to ensure projects are completed in accordance with designated designs, codes, specifications, construction standards, budgets, and schedule requirements.
7. Promotes use of and participates in development of company design and production standards.
8. Coordinates daily activities of design team, including in-house team members and outside consultants, to achieve an efficient flow of work. Proficient written and oral communications skills.
9. Develops project budgets and works with related project reports with minimal supervision.
10. Ensures that all hours are accurately entered at the project level in the time tracking module each day for supervised staff, if applicable.
11. Maintains current knowledge of relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment and/or systems.
12. In conjunction with Principal Architect, develops a training plan to improve job skills and enhance career development.
13. Follows all company policies and procedures.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch), with a minimum 10 years of experience in all phases of design and development of large-scale architectural projects required, 12 years preferred or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Advanced knowledge of architectural design applications required.
- Licensed to practice architecture in the State of Alabama.
- Highly advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office required.
- Highly advanced expertise with current building codes, city, state and federal regulations, Americans with Disabilities Act and other regulatory codes required.
- Advanced proficiency in Bluebeam Revu is preferred.
- Must have current Driver’s License.
- Must have excellent communication skills and ability to effectively interface with others within WSM and in the field.
- Well-developed communication and organizational skills are paramount.
