Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Operations Manager of a leading freight solution provider with a portfolio of services to include freight forwarding (e.g., air, ocean, overland), air charters (e.g., cargo & passenger), warehousing, customs brokerage, and visibility tools.
The AOG Specialist is part of the team that supports the airline’s maintenance operations and provides 24/7 aircraft on ground (AOG) service level to move aircraft spare parts globally. The successful individual will coordinate shipments via the organization’s own aircraft, or 3rd party aircraft with other carriers, as well as ground transportation and other special arrangements as needed. Will receive shipping instructions and follow specific guidelines in the preparation and transmission of export, import, and domestic transactions. Communicates with carriers and origin & destination location agents regarding shipment status, special handling, and delivery processes. Monitors and manages shipments until completion. Keeps customers appraised of transactions in accordance with SOP’s. Ensures accuracy and completeness of documentation. Builds relationships with customers, offices, overseas and domestic agents and service providers. Reviews standard operating procedures to ensure compliance.

Background Required:
  • Work experience in operations with a Freight Forwarder or Transportation provider (2-5 years)
  • Aircraft on ground (AOG) operations
  • Knowledge of international and domestic cargo
  • Firm understanding of aircraft types and requirements based on cargo
  • Basic mathematics
  • Analytical mindset and sound decision making
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work extended hours (40+ hours per week)
  • Computer literate: Internet & Microsoft suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Education: High School degree
  • Residence: Chicago, IL
