Our client, a major player in the energy sector, is seeking an Associate General Counsel to provide strategic legal support for regulatory matters across their western footprint. This is an opportunity to lead a team of regulatory counsel, represent the company in state regulatory proceedings, and advise on critical corporate initiatives.

What you’ll do:
- Lead and supervise the team of regulatory counsel representing the company’s utilities in state regulatory matters
- Represent operating companies before state commissions, working in collaboration with local counsel to ensure regulatory compliance and successful outcomes
- Provide strategic legal advice on corporate initiatives that involve regulatory matters, ensuring alignment with state policies and regulations
- Review, analyze, and interpret laws, regulations, and judicial decisions affecting the company’s operations, ensuring regulatory adherence and minimal legal risk
- Manage outside counsel on key regulatory and legal matters, providing oversight and strategic direction to advance the company’s interests
- Participate in corporate compliance programs, ensuring the highest standards of legal ethics and safety are met
What you will need:
- LLB or JD degree from an accredited law school
- 12+ years of legal experience, preferably within a law firm or corporate legal department, with a focus on regulatory law
- Extensive experience in regulatory legal matters, particularly in energy-related sectors
