Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for the overall safety on their shift.
  • Point of contact for emergency response situations.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the plant.
  • Facilitate plant related continuous improvement projects on their shift.
  • Perform layered process audits.
  • Assist employees in production and downtime reporting.
  • Monitor weekly release requirements.
  • Manage shift work assignments and manning.
  • Participate in employee hiring, evaluation and discipline.
  • Assist in training of employees.
  • Assist in the development of a world class production department.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Operators and Support
    • Directly supervises several employees.
    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
    • Planning, assigning, and directing work assignments.
    • Authority to assign work assignments, matching the responsibility to the person.
    • Train and mentor assigned production operators.
    • Reports attendance/performance/work quality issues to Plant Manager.
    • Participates in completing employee evaluations.
    • Authority to administer disciplinary action in accordance with the organizational policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
    • Responsible for the overall safety on the shift; adheres to safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly. Assist in the investigating and completing of the Injury and Illness Incident Reports in a timely manner to be compliant with MI-OSHA standards. Responsible as the primary contact person on the shift in all emergency situations.

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
