Your Role with the Company

  1. Leads and develops a multidisciplinary substation engineering and operations team, setting goals, managing performance, ensuring safety, and aligning departmental strategies, policies, and priorities across our client while representing the department in executive, board, customer, and community settings.
  2. Oversees the full lifecycle of our client’s transmission and distribution substation projects — including planning, design, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, construction, maintenance, innovation, contract administration, and integration of industry best practices to ensure reliability, capacity, and operational excellence.
  3. Manages budgets, safety compliance, partnerships, and cross-department collaboration, ensuring adherence to our client’s standards, supporting emergency response, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement in processes, performance, and customer service.

Background Profile

  1. Experienced Substation Engineering Leader: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) with 5+ years in substation planning, design, construction, maintenance, and 5+ years in supervisory roles guiding multidisciplinary teams.
  2. Technical & Regulatory Expertise: In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles for secondary networks and substations, safety standards, Cal-OSHA, and G.O. 95, 128, 165 regulations, plus industry best practices.
  3. Leadership & Operational Excellence: Skilled in leading cross-functional and union-represented teams, implementing Positive Discipline, managing budgets, performance, contracts, and continuous process improvements to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget project delivery.
  4. Highly Desirable Credentials: Hands-on experience in substation design and a California Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering; strong analytical, communication, and emergency response capabilities.
