Field Service Technician

Mostly working and optimizing the performance of building automation systems and its associated field components. The candidate should demonstrate competency in technical leadership and communication.

Must have:
  • Work experience as a Field Service Technician - 3 years Minimum
  • A valid drivers license
  • Hands-on experience using a combination of mechanical and power tools

Supporting skills:
  • Tech Savvy especially with diagnostic tools
  • Strong communication skills and spatial awareness
  • Prefer formal training in BACnet protocols

Role Duties:
  • Provide training to customers on building automation system operations
  • Conduct self-study (reading, research, and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in DDC product lines.
  • Has a primary customer facing role, always professionally representing the company, and with the customer’s needs in mind
  • Uses technical knowledge and experience to conduct check-out, verification, and calibration, preventative maintenance, and service of Building Automation Systems and its field components
  • Takes a lead role in scheduling on-site activities and coordination with clients and service manager
  • Available for emergency technical support to technicians within teams and across the entire operation
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to install, diagnose, repair, and program HVAC equipment.
  • Documents work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files
  • Determines parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need
  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required

Education:
  • Technical trade certification in Building Automation, or College Diploma or trade certification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics technology or technician
  • HVAC 313A will be an asset
  • Previous experience as a Field Technician for a telecommunication organization an asset
