Job Description

The Director of Engineering & Construction will play a key role in ensuring that complex engineering and construction projects across NJSEA properties and major complexes, arenas, and sports parks are completed successfully. This includes finishing projects on time and within budget, meeting high-quality standards, and effectively leading and coordinating a team to reach these goals.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide high level technical leadership to ensure the effective coordination and integration of multi-discipline engineering and construction processes.
  • Focus on all aspects of facility engineering and construction across NJSA properties.
  • Lead project teams on large-scale complex projects, from design and construction through completion.
  • Develop and issuing bid packages including front end, specifications and design drawings.
  • Perform construction management.
  • Interact with site and venue operating personnel and lease holders; managing contractors and vendors; managing architects and engineering consultants; interacting with regulatory agencies, including the NJDEP, NJDCA, EPA Sewer Authorities.
  • Manage site remediation activities.  Undertake additional projects or tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Structural or Electrical Engineering.
  • NJ Professional Engineering license a must.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with Project management and working with the NJDEP and EPA.
  • NJDCA, NJDEP & PEOSH regulatory experience.
  • Working knowledge of building codes and infrastructure standards.
  • Strong understanding of construction budgeting, financial management, and cost control.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written skills.
  • Experience with CAD and Bluebeam preferred; now migrating to REVIT.

  • NJ residency is required (within one year of employment).
