Senior Account Manager - Group Benefits

The Opportunity:
  • Manage a book of group medical accounts.
  • Work on large accounts with some Self-Funding.
  • Have the opportunity to mentor and train 5 - 6 staff members.
  • High Visibility: Be the subject matter expert and right-hand individual of one of the Managing Partners.

Position Summary:

  • This position will be responsible for strategic account support for a book of group health clients with a focus on client satisfaction and retention. Hybrid Work Environment requires 2 - 3 days in the office and will be considered depending on the experience of the candidate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with clients, insurance carriers and internal team members
  • Some leadership and management opportunities over a small staff is optional.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships
  • Leverage carrier relationships to provide innovative solutions that meet and exceed client needs
  • Manage a book of business consisting of accounts in the 50 - 100+ employee head count groups.
  • Self-funding account experience a plus.
  • Coordinate implementation and maintenance of new and existing benefit offerings
  • Assist with developing communication and wellness strategies
  • Support the successful roll out of open enrollment activities on an annual basis
  • Provide timely, courteous and accurate response to all inquiries, conducting research when necessary and communicating results
  • Process all necessary paperwork by adhering to the department workflow and procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or the recognized equivalent in education and experience, required
  • 5 years of experience, preferred
  • Experience in a client facing role for a major insurance carrier
  • Currently possess a Health and Life Insurance License
  • Applied Epic or similar agency management software experience, preferred
  • Possess strong administrative and computing skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Able to work independently and enjoy a high degree of interaction with team members
  • Ability to contribute to a collaborative environment by consistently demonstrating teamwork, high motivation, positive behavior and effort to achieve goals and objectives
  • Self-motivated and driven
  • Maintain a sense of urgency and ability to work with and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication, including the ability actively listen, and problem solve with minimal assistance
  • Demonstrates excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to a high level of accuracy
  • The ability to multitask, prioritize, work independently, and use discretion surrounding sensitive information
