Senior Accounting Consultant

Our Virginia-based public accounting firm client is looking for a senior accounting consultant who will specialize in client advisory services. If you like working directly with clients and problem solving, this could be a great opportunity for you! This position will consult with clients and advise them on how to navigate various accounting processes and issues.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide full service accounting support to clients
  • Review and evaluate accounting software and assist with implementation and training
  • Monitor operations to ensure efficient workflow process.
  • Provide guidance and assistance on daily accounting functions, reconciliations and month/year end close process
  • Requires understanding of all accounting and financial transactions to include project based accounting, job costing, indirect cost tracking and rate calculations, reconciliation of accounts, and adjustments.
  • Develop and simplify procedures and processes
  • Coordinates with Manager, Senior Manager, or Partner on all phases of the engagement, including execution of the project deliverables, communications with the project team, staffing requirements, job planning, and scheduling
  • Manages relationship with client-side project members to facilitate project fulfillment
  • Exercises independent thinking skills by making decisions related to engagements to include dynamic problem solving, risk assessment, quality control, and data and information evaluation
  • Strong communication and project management skills with the ability to proactively manage a variety of projects and timelines; demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness and an ability to manage multiple assignments and deliverables.
  • Promptly brings to the attention of the Manager, Senior Manager, Project Manager, or Partner any issues or questions that could potentially result in alterations to the project parameters, costs or deadlines
  • Identifies further areas of value-add to create opportunities for future projects
  • Professional demeanor towards duties and responsibilities, particularly with regard to independence, professional ethics, and the exercise of professional judgment
  • Must be reliable and able to meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
  • Willingness to travel required

Required Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of Accounting Software Systems and experience with implementations a plus
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
  • Associates in accounting
  • 3+ years public accounting experience plus 7+ as an accountant in industry
  • Construction accounting experience a big plus, but not necessary
  • A dedication to teamwork and leadership
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
