Job Title: Senior Controls Engineer
Location: Windsor, ON (Full-Time)
Our client an Industrial Automations Systems Integrator is seeking a Sr. Controls Engineer in Windsor, ON. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers looking for experience within a leading Systems Integrator.
Job Summary:
This role is integral to leading and supporting the controls team through design, programming, and implementation phases of automation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and expertise in PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, coupled with a passion for problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and program automation and controls systems using PLC, HMI, and SCADA platforms.
- Develop PLC code and HMI programs utilizing Allen Bradley Studio5000, FactoryTalk View, Siemens TIA Portal, and related software.
- Create detailed project documentation, including design specifications and test results.
- Manage design projects to ensure high-quality and reliable outputs.
- Design electrical schematics, specifying hardware and components to meet project needs.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve technical problems, providing expert guidance as needed.
- Conduct inspections to identify opportunities for process and product improvement.
- Collaborate with customers to understand requirements and translate them into actionable designs.
- Prepare and implement modular hardwired design standards and sketches for assigned projects.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and materials to enhance design efficiency.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Computer Engineering (preferred).
- 5+ years of relevant experience in automation and controls.
- Proficiency in programming controls-related devices, including:
- PLC & HMIs (Rockwell, Siemens)
- Vision systems (Cognex and Keyence)
- Strong skills in computer-aided design and drafting software.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret and implement project specifications accurately.
- Excellent instructional and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
