Director of Patient Safety

Currently seeking a talented and dedicated Director of Patient Safety for a great opportunity in the Central, FL area. The ideal candidate will possess 5+ years of current experience working in an acute care hospital and have 3+ years of experience working in a Patient Safety in a leadership role.

Responsibilities of the Director of Patient Safety

  • Provides leadership and direction in developing a culture of safety and in identifying opportunities and initiatives to enhance patient safety
  • The Director develops strategic and operational plans to build prospective, proactive, loss prevention and harm reduction patient safety program
  • Responsible for promoting safe and efficient work environments for all staff members and patients
  • Coordinates facility wide risk and patient safety related programs for the continuous improvement of the quality of care and service affecting all customers - patients, physicians, employees and payors
  • Effectively report, investigate, and analyze patient safety incidents, medical errors and potential risks in the facility
  • Facilitate thorough and credible serious event analysis that result in strong sustainable improvement strategies
  • Facilitate thorough and credible failure mode effect analysis to identify and mitigate unintended adverse patient outcomes and evaluate effectiveness of process changes
  • Perform Patient Safety Rounds that identify patient safety risks
  • Empower staff to identify and participate in resolution of patient safety concerns

Requirements of the Director of Patient Safety

  • 3 years' experience in Patient Safety management leadership required
  • 5 years' experience in Patient Safety required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Business or related field is required
  • CPPS (Certification in Patient Safety) (within one year of hire)
  • CPHRM (within one year of hire)
