Engineering Manager

Location: Cincinnati, OH area

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Oversight: Ensure timely release of engineering approvals and certified drawings for commercial orders, adhering to quality specifications.

    • Evaluate assignments and estimate departmental time requirements.
    • Engage in design tasks and review/check all drawings.
    • Review and negotiate design specifications as needed.
    • Schedule engineering personnel to meet project deadlines.
    • Investigate and resolve manufacturing issues at both facility and field installations.
  • Leadership and Development: Assist in setting and achieving departmental goals related to warranty reduction, product development, and design improvements.

    • Maintain and improve IT systems and engineering practices.
    • Develop procedures for engineering forecasts and track engineering hours monthly/annually.
    • Manage inquiries to outside suppliers and develop supplier base.
    • Administer budgets for the Production Engineering Department.
    • Provide development and training opportunities for department personnel.
    • Review and update position descriptions, set objectives, and measure performance.
    • Lead recruitment and selection of key personnel.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in structural design of large capital equipment.
  • Leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Expertise in machine design and failure analysis, with FEA experience.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D software, particularly with sheet metal and weldments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Hands-on experience in equipment design and SolidWorks.
  • In-depth experience with large capital machinery and manufacturing standards.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP, CAD, and Engineering Data Management Systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings.

Physical Requirements:

  • Office environment with occasional lifting, bending, standing, and/or stooping.
  • Capable of prolonged sitting and computer work.
  • Ability to navigate all departments within the organization’s facilities, including the production floor.
  • Approximately 10% travel to customer sites and suppliers.
