Structural Engineer
Job Description
Our client is currently looking for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join their team in Windsor, ON. The ideal candidate will have a P.Eng. license or will be eligible to obtain one within a year, have engineering consulting experience, structural software experience (Tekla, Advanced Steel), steel & concrete experience and will be highly motivated, with superb communication and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities:
- Familiar with industrial applications with emphasis on automotive and conveyor structural engineering experience.
- Technically competent to perform hand calculations based on American and Canadian Standards of codes.
- Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications drawing.
- Ability to autonomously take a task with minimal directions and ensure successful completion.
- Perform structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry and timber structures.
- Perform site visits and attend meetings with contractors and clients.
- Minimal travel to job sites to collect and survey existing conditions.
- Able to use design software and drawings tools.
- Ability to sketch structure details and sections.
- Analyze and prepare structural reports.
- Read and understand structural drawings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, emphasis on structures
- Professional Engineer License in Canada or eligible to obtain within a year is required (P.E)
- At least 5 years of practical experience
- Experience in the automotive industry preferred
- Experience in structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures
- Familiar with Canadian and American Structural Engineering design standards and codes
- Relevant experience with Automotive and conveyor structural design projects
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Software including Project
- Practical experience with AutoCAD required
- Proficiency in Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional preferred
- Proficiency in Autodesk Advance Steel detailing preferred
- Proficiency in SAP 2000 preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Highly motivated, with superb interpersonal and leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to speak multiple languages is considered an asset
- Ability to think methodically, to design, plan and manage projects
- Ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities
- Must be able to obtain work permit in Canada (TN Visa)
- Be willing and able to cross the border, for required support of our US or Canadian customers
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
