We are currently seeking an Accountant for a direct hire position in the Greater Grand Rapids, MI area.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
  • Establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis
  • Effective oversight of the annual audit with an outside CPA firm
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation
  • Manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgets
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Manage company cash flows and tax preparations
  • Ensure all bank reconciliations are completed accurately and timely
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date chart of accounts

Required Work Experience/Skills

  • 5+ years’ experience as a senior-level accounting or financial controller required
  • Elite leadership skills with proven experience leading an accounting and finance team
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field required
  • Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
  • Strong understanding of economic and banking processes
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
  • Proficient in industry software including Microsoft Dynamics GP and Microsoft Excel
  • Elite ability to coach and motivate other team members
  • CPA is required
