Our client, O’Brien Material Handling, manufacture overhead cranes locally in Memramcook, New Brunswick, and provide an optimal solution for day-to-day or industry-specific lifting requirements.

They are seeking a Junior Project Manager to join their team in Memramcook, NB. The Junior Project Manager is responsible for assisting in managing and leading a strong team of Production and Installers to ensure the successful implementation of O’Brien projects. As the Junior Project Manager will interact with the sales team, purchasing department, engineering, and finance along with customers. Some travelling is required for this role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain a robust Project Management system.
  • Streamline processes and continually review procedures and processes to ensure they are best practices for improving overall department quality and functionality
  • Create archival records of projects for OEM manuals & Service dept use
  • Liaise with vendors to negotiate on-hand inventory and specialty components
  • Accommodate CWB compliance audits and required documentation
  • Issue and maintain purchase orders
  • Visit job sites to determine clearances and scope of work.
  • Assist Estimating in the quoting process when required.
  • Ensure all projects stay on target and within budget
  • Oversee the manufacturing and installation schedules
  • Review all quality and safety issues related to manufacturing.
  • Ensure that safety inspections for all equipment are on time.
  • Support Installation Crews with on-site support
  • Improve installation efficiency through training, investments in equipment, sales/customer education, and standardization.
  • Train new staff to adhere to O’Brien’s standards and expectations.
  • Responsible for workplace health and safety for installation and production crews.
  • Liaise with sales and finance to forecast kits and materials requirements.
  • Ensure procurement of all technical details are assimilated from the sales team
  • Update internal systems with initial job and/or changes to work scope
  • Ensure all materials ordered to meet timelines of production requirements
  • Keep abreast of the latest technical and safety improvements in the industry
  • Coordinate with Finance to set budgetary needs
  • Liaise with external engineering for production quality adherence
  • Assess staffing levels to meet project deadlines
  • Maintain and organize shop and facilities to meet leasing requirements

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Post-secondary education in structural engineering or related fields
  • Experience in overhead cranes, project management, Engineering consulting or construction management is an asset
  • Leadership experience
  • Project Management or Coordinator experience is an asset.
